Newark, New Jersey Projected Opening: Fall 2013 • Cost: $80 million A new $80 million housing project will provide homes to the NJIT Greek community, as well as to honors students. Five three-story duplexes will be given to fraternities and sororities, and a six-story building will provide rooms to honors students, as well as retail and office space, dining, and a fitness center. This housing will provide 600 new beds to students, creating a 35 percent increase in on-campus housing and furthering the development of the NJIT community.

Boulder, Colorado Projected Opening: Fall 2013 • Cost: $22 million The Plaza on the Hill, a new 39-unit student apartment building at the University of Colorado, has been approved and will likely open for the 2013-14 school year. The project is a collaboration between the developers and Acacia fraternity, which already owns one of the lots being used. The building will provide housing to Acacia, as well as a chapter room. The two buildings in the complex will provide 153 bedrooms and an underground parking garage.

Cambridge, England, UK Projected Opening: July 2013 • Cost: 6.8 million pounds ~ $10.85 million A new residential block being developed by Mansell contractors will provide Girton College’s main campus with 50 en-suite rooms, kitchens, and a gym complex for students and conference guests. Six of these rooms will be specifically designed for physically challenged students. The development will also feature green elements such as a rooftop photovoltaic installation to generate electricity, ground source heat pumps, and heat recovery from the room ventilation system.

Saratoga Springs, New York Projected Opening: Phase One – Fall 2012, Phase 2 — Fall 2013 Cost: Unavailable Skidmore College is set to replace the Scribner Village apartments, built in the 1970s, with new townhouse-style apartments, increasing accommodation numbers from 100 to 150. Phase one of the two-phase project has already begun adding housing in a neighboring complex and two townhouse buildings alongside the existing apartments in the Scribner complex to provide 114 beds in mostly five-person apartments for the fall 2012 semester. The second phase, set to finish in the fall of 2013, began demolishing the Scribner apartments to prepare the ground for seven additional townhouses to provide 150 more beds intended to house upper level students.
