PEORIA SPORTS COMPLEX th hen it first opened two decades ago, peoria sports complex was the country’s first major league Baseball spring training facility shared by two teams. the seattle mariners and san Diego padres have been there from the beginning, and both teams fittingly signed another 20-year lease agreement as the complex commemorates its 20th anniversary this year. the sprawling, 145-acre complex includes the main baseball stadium, which seats over 11,000, plus 12 full-size practice fields, two clubhouses, and hitting tunnels. in addition to the teams using the facility year-round, the complex hosts numerous baseball tournaments, community events, concerts, art and trade shows, and weddings and group events.
