acquired Natural
Ovens Bakery in
Manitowoc, Wis.

Whole Foods Market, Inc.
and Wild Oats Markets have
signed a definitive merger
agreement under which
Whole Foods will acquire
Wild Oats Markets' outstanding common stock.

Canada Bread
Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Maple
Leaf Foods, Inc.,
has acquired
Quebec-based
Patisserie Chevalier, Inc.,
Quebec's second largest producer of sweet goods.

While generally supportive
of existing definitions of the
term "natural," the American
Bakers Association has urged
the U.S. Department of Agriculture to clarify the meaning
of "minimally processed," an
expression that is part of the
existing definition.

B&G Foods, Inc. said its
subsidiaries have completed
the purchase of the Cream
of Wheat and Cream of Rice
brands from Kraft Foods
Global, Inc. for $200 million
in cash.

Parrish & Heimbecker, Ltd.
has acquired the flour milling business in Canada of the
