Remaining healthy became a focus and Shenk committed
to being open for customers to get products they need, a
goal that could only be accomplished with healthy team
members.

"I measure our success by team members and our
customers' engagements with our company. When we
succeed in solving customer's wants, problems, or issues, we
are successful," Shenk said.

Shenk's focus on his team is so strong, that even though
new essential business protocols were put in place which
meant reduced hours and tightened business access and
flow, Shenk continued to tweak his operations to create the
optimum situation for team members.
"We have been able to handle the increased business that
we are experiencing currently because our teams are strong,
and we protect our energy. Wearing a mask 8 hours a
day on the sales floor can be difficult and annoying. We
recognize this and do whatever we can to make it less
uncomfortable," Shenk said. "From cooler buildings in
summer, to outdoor lunchrooms, to pandemic weekly crisis
bonus for every hour worked, closing on National holidays
(Memorial Day and Labor Day) to give our teams welldeserved breaks, we are always looking for ways to support
our teams. One can only grow during times like these if
you take care and grow your team members."
Shenk reiterates that companies never know what
changes will come tomorrow that may redefine their
success and there should never be an end to looking over
systems, operations, finances, and most importantly teams,
to ensure continued growth.
