years when occupancy was high, the
university relied on temporary triples
and temporary RA roommates. "However, we recently moved away from
triples as we have found that these do
not support student retention," Penven
says. "So, we are left utilizing temporary RA roommates as a solution until
we experience some melt at the start of
the year."
Pagan Aello explains that her work
on the newest halls at the University
of South Florida in Tampa looked at
facilities from an adaptability perspective: for example, lounges that can be
easily modified to serve as revenuegenerating spaces as the need arises.
"Another inexpensive example is interchangeable signage for restrooms,"
