Website Wisdom Online Donations Simplified on the New APMA.org Looking for an easy way to make a direct impact on the future of podiatric medicine? How about personally helping to pass Title XIX or supporting a student? Making a donation helps ensure that quality foot health education and scholarships are readily available for podiatric medical students, and keeps important issues in podiatric medicine represented in Congress. On the redesigned APMA.org, doing your part only takes a few clicks. Located at the top right of the website (next to the “Join” link), the “Donate” link takes you to APMA’s donation page, www.APMA.org/donate. Here you can make a secure online gift to the foundation or PAC, and your donation will be processed instantly. Support Students and the Scholarship Fund As the nonprofit educational arm of APMA, the APMA Educational Foundation helps advance the growth of podiatric medicine through scholarships for deserving students and raises overall awareness of foot and ankle health. To make an online gift to the foundation’s Annual Giving Campaign, users can select a gift amount on the foundation donation page to be given to either of the two foundation areas: the Student Scholarship Fund or Educational Programs. After selecting the gift amount and campaign, donors have the option of entering the name of an individual they would like to honor or memorialize through their foundation gift. Donors then proceed to a checkout screen, to confirm address and billing information, and they receive an online receipt. Now is the perfect time to make your year-end tax-deductible gift to APMA’s Educational Foundation. Watch for the foundation’s full list of 2012–13 scholarship recipients, which will be released soon. For more information, visit www.APMA. org/EducationalFoundation. Make a secure online gift to the foundation or PAC at www.APMA.org/donate. In addition to making a donation, members also can visit the eAdvocacy site at www.apma.org/eadvocacy, where it takes only minutes to communicate concerns to both state and federal officials. Contribute to APMAPAC today to make a difference. n Next month: APMA’s e-Store—the new and improved way to order brochures and other materials for your practice. Champion Important Legislative Issues Thanks to the efforts of APMAPAC, the profession continues to garner national attention as a political force in Washington, DC. Member contributions to APMAPAC are combined and then given to federal candidates—without regard to political party—who support the podiatric medical profession through legislative action. On the new APMA.org, the online donation process is more streamlined than ever before. Simply logging into the APMA website and clicking the “Donate” link grants users instant access to the PAC donation page. 52 APMA News October 2012 PURPOSE: The American Podiatric Medical Association Political Action Committee’s purpose is to raise and disburse funds to candidates for federal office who support the legislative priorities and goals of the podiatric medical profession. *IMPORTANT: These are suggested amounts.
