and make Goleta the most
wonderful place to live. "

But he doesn't just live and work in the Good Land - Michael finds plenty
of diversions for play and relaxation in Goleta. A stroll on Goleta beach
includes the Goleta Pier and often a swing into one of his favorite restaurants, Beachside.
Michael is a huge fan of Goleta's rich local history. One favorite anecdote
is the founding of the Goleta Post office, formally recognized in April
1876 when an application was formally sent to the Postmaster General in
Washington, DC. The location of this Post Office was designated by a dot
placed on the request form on the north side of Hollister Avenue between
Patterson Avenue and Maria Ignacia Creek.
Looking forward, Michael is excited about the completion of two major
projects: the multimodal Transportation Center to be located on La
Patera Avenue and new Fire Station #10 planned for West Hollister
Avenue across from Sandpiper Golf Course. Both projects are anticipated
to begin construction in the later part of 2021 and will greatly benefit
the Goleta community.
" I have a great deal of pride in the people who live, work and make Goleta

interested in what's going on, engaged, volunteering, supportive and
all-around caring individuals who contribute to the quality of life that
we all enjoy. "
As connected as Michael continues to be with the city of Goleta, he's
equally concerned about the pandemic and the city's response. " I have
been impressed by how many in our local business community have come
up with ways to survive with all of the impacts that they have had to
overcome. It is sad that not all businesses will survive this terrible virus.
Overall, I think the community has responded in a positive manner to

keeping the community safe by social distancing and wearing face coverings.
It will be imperative that locally elected officials continue to work with the
business community to find ways to make them successful by thinking outside the box and looking for new ways to be successful in business. I believe
that the City of Goleta and the County have endeavored to find ways that
they can be helpful. "
