WELCOME

THE GAME WILL COME
Iowa missed its chance this past summer to host its first-ever major league baseball game, at Dyersville. But hey, let's
get ready for its new date of August 2021 with a few facts and trivia.

I

ANSWERS:

t was to have been a unique highlight of any
Major League Baseball season: The Chicago
White Sox, giving up a home game in their
40,000-capacity stadium to travel to Dyersville,
Iowa, to play in front of a maximum of 8,000 people,
in the new stadium created near the Field of Dreams
movie site.
The "build it and they will come" adage would
have been in full operation. (The quote is of course
actually, "build it and he will come," but close
enough.)
But as with so many things in 2020, the August
date came and went without the game.
The good news is that Major League Baseball
has re-scheduled the first big-league game ever
to be played on Iowa soil for next August. And the
White Sox, key to the 1989 movie, will be the home
team for the slated 2021 game, with the opposition
to be announced.
For those who can't wait till next year for their
first visit (or 50th) to the Field of Dreams site, the
good news is that the field from the movie is open
daily from April through October, with a traditional
concession stand open 10-5 daily. Admission is
free, though donations are welcomed, to help with
maintenance at the site. Please check ahead to
assure those circumstances still apply, and for infomation on tours of the home from the movie.

And in the meantime, let's start getting warmed
up for the August, 2021 game with a little trivia
quiz about the new stadium and the movie that
brought it to be:
1. What is the view through the windows in the
new stadium's right field wall?

league game?

son his own playing field many many years

4. Name two now-famous actors who, as teenagers, appeared in the movie.
5. For what famous actor was "Field of Dreams"
