Chapter 3-1 Amendment Processing: RMV-3 Processing A. The customer must submit a completed RMV-3 before a registration can be amended. When amending a VIN, the customer must also submit a completed Visual Inspection Form TV-7A. The RMV-3 must be stamped and signed by the insurance agent or company and all owners. The insurance validation stamp is valid for thirty days from the date stamped. If the customer does not amend the registration within this time, a new form with an updated insurance validation stamp is required. B. The Amendment Chart which follows shows the type of information which may be amended on a registration and who at the RMV is authorized to process the amendment. AMENDMENTS PERMITTED Comments: Reg. Clerks may change up to three incorrect characters of the VIN except for the last six characters. Reg. Clerks may also add on valid character to an existing VIN. VIN Clerks with Supervisory Authorized clerks may add more VIN amendment authority than one character or change more than three characters in a VIN. Mail Address Reg.
