Jeanne Varney Host Marriott Corporation As our NEWH 20th Anniversary Year begins to wind down, while we reflect on our many successes, we still have much to look forward to! This year, we are so pleased to maintain the continued support of our Corporate Partners: Ulster Carpet Mills, Inc., The HD Group/VNU Expositions, Shelby Williams Industries, Inc. (the Falcon Companies), Burtco Enterprises, Durkan Patterned Carpet, Inc. (Mohawk Industries) and Milliken Carpet/Hospitality. We are also thrilled to welcome three new Corporate Partners: S. Harris/Fabricut, Marriott International, Inc., and Virginia Quilting. We look forward to continuing and expanding our circle of partners into 2005 and beyond. Truly, without the support of these fine organizations as well as all of our supporters, we could not accomplish our mission of providing scholarships, education and networking to hospitality students and professionals. We held two very successful NEWH Regional Trade Shows in Washington, DC and Dallas, TX. Over 100 vendors participated with hundreds of hospitality designers and professionals in attendance. With our many thanks to those that November is a busy month. On November 14, many of our members will gather in New York City for the IH/M&R Show. NEWH is participating in several events that offer opportunities for nation-wide networking, including the Gold-Key Awards Breakfast, featuring the first annual Icons of the Industry Scholarship Award, the Greater New York Chapter’s annual Party of the Year, and a cocktail reception to be co-hosted by Shelby Williams and MMPI. ALL NEWH members are invited to enjoy these events (see the Calendar of Events for details). And, as always, don’t forget to visit our NEWH trade show booth to meet fellow members, prospective members and our professional staff. November 18th will mark a milestone event for NEWH! We are very excited to announce that our first NEWH chapter in Canada will be chartering on that date. This event is a reflection of our continued commitment to make NEWH a truly global organization, ever increasing the scope of our network and the professional opportunities that that networking affords all our NEWH members. Please join me in welcoming our Canadian members into our international family! International Business Leaders Forum (see inside article). On December 4th, NEWH, in conjunction with our Los Angeles Founding Chapter, will be celebrating Lyndall’s contributions at our 20th Anniversary at the NEWH Woman of the Year Awards Gala at the Regent Beverly Wilshire. Please join us for what promises to be a fabulous evening. Finally, I want to remind you of one more very important “Save the Date” event - our NEWH International Leadership Conference that will be held January 20-23, 2005 at the Embassy Suites Biltmore in Phoenix, AZ. For details, see our announcement inside the magazine. In closing, I’d like to thank our members, corporate sponsors, supporters and staff for their many contributions in 2004. Because of all of your efforts and support, we continue to make a difference in the lives of our scholarship recipients, enhance our industry through our day-to-day work and promote opportunities for professional development for all our members.
