[COVER STORY] Best Practices in Certification Training BY DAVID AUSTIN The phrase “certification training” broadly applies to training courses or a training regimen whereupon successful completion, the student is deemed qualified or competent to perform the tasks and processes that are the subject of the training material. Some certifications require periodic renewal, while others last a lifetime. Recommended best practices vary depending on the specific type of certification training taking place. This is particularly true when the corporation doesn’t necessarily control content or administration of the training, yet there is high value to the organization to have personnel certified. 15
