A sale of 100,000,000 bus of
Canadian wheat to the British
Food Ministry was announced
Aug. 2. The sale is the largest
single transaction in wheat in
history. The price, which was
not directly disclosed, is believed to be 85c a bu.

Edgar Wood, vice-president of
Goffe & Carkener, Inc., one of
the leading grain commission
houses in the Southwest, passed
away July 31 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. He was 71.
An important statement is shortly to be made, probably in the
House of Commons in London,
to the effect that arrangements
have been made to replace in
white flour the vitamin B1 that is
contained largely in the excluded husk and germ of the grain.

estate of Louis Dreyfus, head
of the Dreyfus house, who is
rated as a holder of one of the
five great fortunes of France.

Wheat supplies
are likely to accumulate in the
granaries of overseas exporting countries until economic
absurdities arising from war
