KLINE ADDS SENIOR LUBRICANTS
MARKETING EXPERT
Kline is proud to announce the
addition of Deborah (Debbie) Powell
as a manager in the energy practice of
Kline's Management Consulting business. She is based in the United States.

Debbie Powell

Powell has more than 20 years of
global experience in the lubricants
field, specifically in finished lubricants brand, product and marketing
strategy. She is specialized in automotive finished lubricants, developing
strategies, building brands and promoting product innovation. Prior to
joining Kline, she worked at Royal
Dutch Shell in Cape Town, South
Africa, London and Houston, then at
Chevron Corp. in San Ramon.
Powell's experience includes
development of automotive passenger
vehicle brand strategies, brand architectures and brand visual identities,
as well as channel strategies and B2B
customer value propositions. She has
also worked on adapting strategies
with the emergence of digital platforms within her brand and channel
strategy experiences. For product
strategy and innovation, she delivered
many projects focusing on automotive
passenger vehicle finished lubricant
growth initiatives, including designing product portfolio architectures,
product migration road maps, product

development, differentiating full synthetics and new passenger cars motor
oil industry and original equipment
manufacturer standards.

NYNAS TURNS 90
When Nynas' first refinery was taken
into operation in 1928, the focus
was on providing the Swedish market
with fuel. Today, the company's
highly specialized naphthenic oils are
included in everything from gearboxes
and rubber to adhesives and electrical
transformers.
It all started in 1928. Axel Axelsson
Johnson, one of the great Swedish
industrialists, and Charles Almqvist
were the ones behind the building of
Sweden's first large scale oil refinery.
From 1930-1980, Nynas petrol stations were a common sight throughout
Sweden. Then came the energy crisis
in the 1970s, and after rethinking its
strategy, Nynas dismantled the network
of petrol stations, transforming the
company into a global group with a
focus on specialty products. As the
1990s began, the modern Nynas
continued with two business areas and
began expanding its sales of naphthenic
specialty oils internationally.
As they say, the rest is history: This
year Nynas has celebrated 90 years
of successes and solutions, research
and development, investments and
improvements, experience and innovation, acquisitions and partnerships,
and over 1,000 dedicated employees
around the world.

HOLLYFRONTIER TO ACQUIRE
SONNEBORN
HollyFrontier Corp. (HollyFrontier)
announced that its subsidiary has
entered into a definitive agreement
to acquire Sonneborn US Holdings
Inc. and Sonneborn Coöperatief U.A.
(collectively known as Sonneborn)
for $655 million, including working
capital with an estimated value of $72
million. HollyFrontier expects to fund
the transaction with cash on hand
and anticipates the acquisition will be
immediately accretive to HollyFrontier's earnings per share, cash flow
and earnings before interest, taxes,
depreciation and amortization margins.
George Damiris, president and
CEO of HollyFrontier, said, "We are
pleased to announce the acquisition
of Sonneborn, with its strong global
presence and quality portfolio of
finished lubricants and specialty
products. This transaction demonstrates our continued commitment to
the finished lubricants business and is
expected to bring outstanding value to
our shareholders and to the customers
and employees at both companies."
With the addition of Sonneborn,
HollyFrontier will become a global
supplier of specialty products. This
acquisition will advance HollyFrontier's downward integration strategy
into high-margin specialty products
and significantly grow the Rack
Forward business segment.
Sonneborn strengthens HollyFrontier's global footprint by increasing
processing and blending capabilities
in North America and Europe and
expanding the global sales organization
and distribution network. HollyFrontier has identified $20 million in
potential annual synergies, including
logistics and operations cost savings.
