water notes 2009 IBWA CONVENTION AND TRADE HOW MEETING THE CHALLENGES TOGETHER Packed IBWA educational sessions were one reason the 2009 IBWA convention was a success. Incoming IBWA Chairman Stewart Allen (DS Waters) addresses the General Session audience on October 8, 2009. IBWA President Joe Doss and 2009 IBWA Chairman Dimitrios Smyrnios (Nestlé Waters North America) look on as family members of the late Kristin Safran accept tokens of appreciation for her dedication to the bottled water industry from Chris Saxman (Shenandoah Valley Water) and Lynn Watchmann (Maumee Valley Brothers). IBWA members met in Las Vegas on October 22-25, 2009, for our annual convention to discuss hot bottled water topics and educate themselves more about industry issues. To earn the hearts and minds of consumers, IBWA members know that they have to be responsible for sharing bottled water’s good message—and attendance at IBWA’s 2009 Convention and Tabletop Trade Show provided members the opportunity to learn more about industry innovations and our continuing strategies to decrease our environmental impact, and network with peers. Due to IBWA members’ reports that the co-location with PACK EXPO was a productive meeting, the Board of Directors has signed IBWA on to co-locate with PACK EXPO in 2011.
