Susan Salo Jumping DVDs 5 Just because a dog CAN jump... doesn't mean that he knows HOW to jump. A Angle the jumps so your dog can see a straight path to you. C B Slowly increase the angle of the jumps... D Until your dog is doing a complete serpentine! Just a little bit at a time... 6 Out! Out! Out! www.cleanrun.com 46 Serpentines as a Recall Teaching the serpentine is similar to teaching the double out. Start with your jumps in a straight line, spaced 15' apart, and angle them slightly so that it's still easy for your dog to see the path through the jumps. See Figure 5a. Slowly continue to rotate the jumps until the jumps are in a straight vertical line. See Figures 5b, 5c, and 5d. As soon as the jumps are angled enough that your dog's path starts to bend as he takes the line of jumps, begin using your arm changes and your "Out" command to cue the turns just as you did in the double out exercise.
