COOKING WITH SPIRITS BOURBON CANDIED BACON: INGREDIENTS 1 lb. thick cut bacon 3/4 cup dark brown sugar (packed) 1/4 cup maple syrup 1/2 cup bourbon 1 tsp. black pepper 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper DIRECTIONS Heat oven to 375 degrees. Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. (If you have a baking rack, place it on the foil lined baking sheet). In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, maple syrup, bourbon, black pepper and cayenne pepper. Dip each bacon slice in the mixture and place them on the lined baking sheet. If you have any of the glaze left over, spoon it over top of the bacon before putting it in the oven. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until crispy. (Check bacon at 30 minutes to see if it is done). Transfer bacon to a cooling rack until completely cooled, about 15-20 minutes.
