HIGH-SPEED MULTI-AXIS WINDER
Cygnet Texkimp's high-speed, multi-axis winding machine is designed to wind fibres such as carbon, aramid and glass
quickly and accurately into strong and lightweight composite parts for the automotive, aerospace, rail, sailing, construction
and wind energy sectors.
The Multi-Axis Winder is capable of producing linear structures such as tubes and masts quickly by laying down multiple tows
at once around an inner core. It is part of a range of high-speed winding products developed by Cygnet Texkimp including
the 3D Winder, which can produce more complex, curved components. Both address the
need for faster, lower-cost ways to manufacture lighter, stronger, more fuel-efficient and
environmentally-friendly composite cars and aeroplanes.

The wound structure is infused with resin to create the finished part, or, for more demanding
applications that need tightly-controlled composition, a prepreg tape or towpreg can be
used to more accurately define the ratio of fibres to resin.
The technology competes with a range of alternative methodologies including braiding,
weaving, and conventional filament winding, but offers compelling benefits to high-volume
manufacturers in terms of cost and speed of manufacture, as well as the strength, uniformity
and repeatability of the finished product. It also allows manufacturers to replace traditional
metal forming technologies and steel components with lighter, stronger, continuous composite structures in a way that is more
cost-effective.
