New York, has honored Indiana University in Bloomington

Virginia Architect Honored
Jane Cady Rathbone, president and CEO of Hanbury in Norfolk,
Virginia, was chosen as the recipient of the 2017 William C. Noland
Medal. She was honored at the Visions for Architecture gala on November 3, 2017. Recipients of this medal, which is given by AIA Virginia and considered their highest honor, are chosen based upon the
impact their body of work has had on the architectural field. Judges
look for work that has a broad range and that transcends the field.

Architect Firm Wins Award
Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA), located in Madison, Wisconsin,
has received a Grand Prize Award from Learning By Design magazine
for their work on Waunakee Intermediate School in Wisconsin. This
distinction is awarded for excellence in educational facility design.

Name Change Announced
MyRoomsolution, a software company located in Loveland, Colorado,
has undergone a name change. They are now 99Agree.

Red Deer College

Red Deer, Alberta, Canada

Cost: $19 million
Red Deer College started construction of their newest residence hall, which will first be used for the
Canada Winter Games and then used for student
housing. The complex will have five stories and will
contain 145 studio suites, which will each have a
kitchenette and private bathroom. The suites will
also have a Murphy bed inside of the desk which
will allow the space to be converted into a twobed suite for the college's summer camps or when
needed. Ten percent of the suites will be on the
main floor to allow for a barrier-free entrance. There
will be social gathering spaces and lounges on every
floor. The building will be covered in solar panels on
three sides, allowing learners at the Alternative Energy Lab to collect and analyze data. This will make
the complex a research site and trouble-shooting site
for alternative energy.

Belmont University has started the process of building their newest residence hall by blasting the area
where it will be built in order to ensure the right
topography. The hall has not yet been named but
is slated to be the tallest building on campus. The
university hopes to open the hall in the fall of 2018.

The University of North Carolina Asheville has announced their first apartment-style housing. The
complex will consist of six buildings, with a total of
almost 300 beds. The apartments will be offered in
four-, five-, and six-person configurations with full
kitchens in each apartment. One of the buildings
will hold a fitness room and a multipurpose room
for community events and visitors. The community
director will also have an apartment in this building.
