The Bottom Line - Winter 2019 - 17

In comparison, the main difference
between the two roles is the manner in
which my duties and responsibilities are
structured and carried out. Given the complexity of this financial system transformation, the environment is very unstructured
and all-encompassing, whereas previously
I could predict my day-to-day duties and
responsibilities.
This difference has definitely led me to
make adjustments in order to meet the
program requirements. I am an accountant
by trade, not a systems person- this role
requires me to seek a deeper understanding of how the new system will work. To
improve my level of understanding, I've participated in Oracle trainings, brainstorms,
and have read a variety of relevant Oracle
financial documents.

and program operations for years to come.
This role has provided me an opportunity
to be an advocate for every stakeholder
across the District. So, every chance I get,
I encourage project management to bring
all DIFS stakeholders together, so that their
voices are heard and captured as inputs to
our user stories. I strongly believe that every
stakeholder has something to contribute to
the successful implementation of the DIFS.
I am thankful for my team's dedication
and the invaluable contributions they've
provided the DIFS Program thus far. I am
confident that if we continue down this
path, the new system will be the best in
class, exceeding expectations.

The new "District Integrated
Financial System" (DIFS) Program is a
new and exciting endeavor that continuously challenges me to merge the
worlds of finance and technology. I
appreciate the fact that I was selected to
be a part of this important transformation, which will have a major impact on the
District's accounting, financial reporting,
