Far West Ski Association Honors its
Club and Council Volunteers

Councils' Man and Woman of the Year Program Chair, FWSA

Becki Robinson and Todd Hood, representing Northwest Ski Club Council and the
National Brotherhood of Skiers - Western Region,
respectively, were honored as the 2019
FWSA Councils' Man & Woman of the
Year Recognition Award winners at this
year's Far West Ski Association Annual Convention, held at the Hyatt Regency Indian
Wells, June 13-16, 2019. Katie Balkwill, representing signature sponsor Big White Ski
Resort, announced the winners. Becki and
Todd will each receive a 5-day trip to the resort.
Fifteen representatives from eight Far
West councils were honored during a special
Friday night reception, as well as, the Saturday convention luncheon. Honorees are selected by their respective clubs and councils
to represent them at the FWSA Annual Convention, and FWSA is delighted to recognize
these men and women who have worked so
hard.
Honorees were judged on their participation in club, council, and regional activities.
Each council provides a judge to participate
in a brief interview of all honorees. Judges
this year were Harry Davis (Bay Area Snow
Sports Council), Kim Hovren (Intermountain
Ski Council), Sandy Blackwell (Los Angeles
Council of Ski Clubs), Brenda Holden (National
Brotherhood of Skiers - Western Region), Eileen
Hines (Northwest Ski Club Council), Carol
Kane (Orange Council of Ski Clubs), Barbara
Blase (San Diego Council of Ski Clubs), and Jo
Simpson (Sierra League and Council).

given so much time and energy to the success
of their clubs and councils. These are the
council honorees for the 2019 Councils'
Man & Woman of the Year Recognition
Award.
BAY AREA SNOW SPORTS COUNCIL
Gail Burns
Gail is a member and past board member of Inskiers Ski & Snowboard Club, where
she has organized trips, and worked to solicit
items for an annual auction. She is currently
the travel director for Bay Area Snow Sports
Council. At the age of 10, she fell in love with
skiing as a member of the Trolls Ski Club in Illinois.
INTERMOUNTAIN SKI COUNCIL
Tama Lamm and Colby Nielsen
Tama is a member of McCall Winter
Sports Club, and member of their board of directors for over six years. Tama is team manager of the club's U10 Race Team, the Little
Ski Hill After School Program, and the Payette
Lakes Ski Club.
Colby, also a member of the McCall
Winter Sports Club, has been a board member
of the club for three years. Colby is also the
general manager of the Little Ski Hill in
McCall, and works with several outside organizations to secure the future of the organization.

LOS ANGELES COUNCIL OF SKI CLUBS
Regina Reilly and Victor Chan
Regina, a member and current president
of Wailers Ski Club, has been successful with
streamlining club on-line accounting, developing procedures for board positions, and recruiting. She is also a member of the National
Ski Patrol at Snow Valley.
Victor is a member of the Unrecables, and
has been an instructor for the club for the
past five years, helping with equipment and
using advanced video techniques to enhance
training. He is working to design and develop
new equipment, which can be used by club
members, and enjoys attending club fundraisers and other events.
NATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF
SKIERS - WESTERN REGION
Teri Allard and Todd Hood
Teri is the current president of Inland
Empire Ski & Sports Club, and has also served
as newsletter editor, VP and trip coordinator.
She has worked to promote activities and experiences to underserved and "never-ever"
youth. Teri is Western Region Director of the
NBS, and a board member of the NBS.
Todd is a member of Snowbusters Ski Club
of Pasadena, where he is a past board member.
He is currently VP Membership of the Los Angeles Council of Ski Clubs, and a National Board
Member of the NBS. He also works in several
capacities with FWSA.
