P R E S I D E N T ’ S ME S SAG E BE PC IN D.C. Make Our Collective Voices Heard This is the time for the industry to come together to talk about the contribution it makes to the economy through job creation, through maintaining the nation’s transportation infrastructure, through environmental stewardship and just plain keeping Americans on the road. We dedicated the cover and several pages of this issue of Aftermarket Insider to the AAIA Aftermarket Legislative Summit, to be held in Washington, D.C. March 14-15, 2012, because it’s a critical time for AAIA and our members. Kathleen Schmatz AAIA President & CEO Why? Because all representatives and one third of senators are running for re-election, and this makes it an excellent time for the aftermarket industry to be in the nation’s capital to make its collective voice heard. This is the time for the industry to come together to talk about the contribution it makes to the economy through job creation, through maintaining the nation’s transportation infrastructure, through environmental stewardship and just plain keeping Americans on the road. I encourage all of our members to get involved in the political process, to meet with their legislators by attending the AAIA Aftermarket Legislative Summit. Our government affairs staff has created an ambitious two-day event including a reception with legislators and their staff, a briefing and personal congressional appointments with elected officials. Please read the feature article on pages 4-7 for more information on the summit and how to register. Thank you. 2 | AFTERMARKET INSIDER | VOLUME 73 http://www.aftermarket.org/Government/LegislativeSummit.aspx
