Top 50 EN G I N EE R S Carl Bernard MACK Married, 45 Executive Director National Society of Black Engineers Virginia Monica Morgan Photography, LLC At 700 mph, just under Mach 1, Carl took NSBE to new heights when he joined the infamous U.S. Navy Blue Angels aboard a Boeing F/A-18 B Hornet jet. The invitation from CNO Admiral Michael Mullins meant one thing to Carl: where he goes, NSBE goes to break new ground. Unbridled passion is what makes him a sexy engineer. Since 2005, “Brother E.D.” has logged thousands of air miles executing the National Executive Board’s directive to increase membership and raise NSBE’s national proﬁle. With a primal love for the black community and eyes set on a 100,000 member goal, he energetically preaches a gospel of education and achievement. Formerly the NAACP SeattleKing County branch president, he also has engineering expertise with complex waste water treatment systems. At Home: Carl recharges with easy listening music and private family time. He’s a perpetual student of black history and enthusiastic horse racing fan.
