Power Eaton’s 9E UPS Delivers Simple Power Management for Complex IT Environments Eaton Corp. has launched the Eaton 9E uninterruptible power system (UPS), a backup power device designed specifically with the information technology (IT) manager in mind. Integrated with Eaton’s Intelligent Power Manager software, the 9E delivers data center power management in a small footprint. The 9E’s tower configuration delivers power protection for expanding loads in space-constrained data centers while operating at up to 98 percent efficiency. The 9E offers internal batteries up to 60 kVA, which saves significant floor space when compared to external battery cabinets. Further addressing the IT manager’s growing energy management and efficiency concerns, the 9E’s physical footprint is up to 35 percent smaller than competing models, which allows better space utilization for revenueproducing equipment and materials, in turn, saving costs to build, protect, insure, heat and cool the data center. The unit further curtails total cost of ownership by minimizing energy, space, installation and maintenance costs, offering a potential lifetime savings of more than $85,000. The 9E comes complete with Eaton’s Intelligent Power Manager supervisory software, which allows management and monitoring of multiple power devices across a network from any personal computer with an internet browser. The 9E also boasts a range of integrated accessories to maximize runtime options, meet unique location requirements and allow for planning expansion. HP R5000 and R7000 UPSs Pack a Punch with Transformer-less, Hybrid Design HP has added two new slimlined uninterruptible power systems (UPS) to its power family. The HP UPS R5000 is 3U and delivers 4,500 W, and the HP UPS R7000 is 4U and delivers a full 7,200 W. Combining unity rating with more true wattage in smaller form factors, the HP rack-mountable UPSs are highly dense. The HP on-line, on-demand hybrid technology optimizes efficiency and heat output during general operation and provides a transformer-less design for an optimum size/functionality ratio. A distinctive processing system on these rack-mount UPS models incorporates a three stage power filter with a doubleconversion, line-interactive system to provide all of the benefits of an on-line UPS without the side effects of low efficiency, extra heat and short battery life. All HP rack-mountable UPSs ship with HP’s Network Module and HP’s Power Protector software that incorporates enhanced battery management, a patented technology that doubles battery service life to lower investment costs. Hot-swappable batteries and an intelligent automatic bypass, for continuous power and improve overall serviceability. The included HP UPS Network Module provides enterprise-wide intelligent manageability functionality, such as scheduled shutdowns, additional operating systems support including VMware and Hyper-V and redundant UPS support for no single point of failure. Greater system uptime is supported via optional extended runtime modules (ERM). New Level V Compliant 60 W Single/MultiOutput Desktop Power Supply Offering from one to three outputs, the PUP60 series of AC/ DC desktop switching power supplies from Protek Power provide 30 W to 60 W of continuous output power. They are enclosed in a compact case with an IEC320/C14 inlet for world-wide use. All models meet EN55022 and FCC Class B emission limits, are designed for ITE applications, and comply with UL, TUV and CE requirements. The PUP60 series are Efficiency Level V, with ratings up 87 percent. They meet the stringent requirements of global energy efficiency standards such as EISA2007, CEC2008 and the European ErP Directive for a no-load power consumption of less than 0.5 W. The PUP60 series’ operate with a universal AC input of 85 to 264 VAC (47 to 63 Hz). Single output models offer voltages ranging from 24 VDC to 48 VDC. Dual and triple output models offer voltages ranging from 5 VDC to 24 VDC. This compact desktop adapter has a 2.95 by 5.79 by 1.81 inch footprint. This series features 3,000 VAC input-output isolation. Comprehensive protection circuitry, including overvoltage and short circuit protection, is inherent in the design. These supplies have an MTBF of 150,000 hours at full load. 22 January/February 2012 www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com http://www.eponlinebuyersguide.com http://www.eponlinebuyersguide.com http://www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com
