Health & Safety Training our industry is becoming more aware of the mandatory requirements of the ontario ministry of Labour (moL), however after the ministries safety blitz during the 2014 season there are employers still not in compliance with the latest guidelines. upon checking employers for compliance with the occupational health and safety Act (ohsA) and its regulations - including the newer requirement for 'mandatory' Basic occupational health and safety Awareness training - the moL issued 7,900 orders under the ohsA. For several years, Boating ontario has embarked on a safety program to assist all their members to become compliant and protect against work stoppages or perhaps even fines and charges under the ohsA. Boating ontario safety programs have expanded again this year to include all of the following opportunities: * student marine training Program (one day workshop) * health and safety seminars - owner, supervisor and manager Policy Preparation and/or review (one day regional workshop or at your business) * online safety training course package - partnering with georgian College (four in total) topics meet new moL requirements. * health and safety orientation for employees * Accessibility for ontarians with disabilities Act * workplace hazardous materials Information system (whmIs) moL Inspector visits to the service sector (which includes marinas) resulted in the most workplace visits and the most orders issued. ensure your workforce is properly trained.
