Chapter 4-14 Issued by Branch: Cape and Islands: Passenger Special Plates A. Definition: The Cape and Islands Plate features the Nauset lighthouse and cliffs of Siasconset and Gayhead with a blue background of ocean and sky. Proceeds from the special plate fee go directly to the Cape and Islands to promote tourism and economic development. All plates have the first two characters, “CI” or “IC”, followed by either a combination of two numbers and two alpha characters or four numbers. These plates are Passenger Special (PAS) plate type and have a two-year registration period. B. Plate Fees: The biennial plate fee for Cape and Island plate is $100 ($50 registration fee & $50 special plate fee). C. Expiration Date: Cape and Island Plates expire every two years on a staggered basis determined by the last number of the registration.
