Chapter 6A-8 Class M Permit and License (Motorcycle) Obtaining a Class M License You may apply for a Class M license if you are at least 18 years old and have a valid Class M permit. You may also apply if you are 16 1/2 years old and have successfully completed all JOL requirements. Parental consent is required for applicants under 18 years of age. There are Two Ways to Obtain your Motorcycle License * Take a Massachusetts Rider Education Program approved license waiver course. Courses that are Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) certified are the Basic Rider Course, the Experienced River Course, and the Evergreen Sidecare/ Trike Course. * If you test on a sidecar or trike, you will be issued a motorcycle license with a J restriction. This means that you will be restricted to operating a 3-wheel motorcycle. * Take a Registry of Motor Vehicles Road Test 06/15 Fees: The fee for each road test is $35. The fee to issue your license is $50.00. 6A:50
