Chapter 6A-8 Class M Permit and License (Motorcycle) Scheduling a Road Test Once you have passed the written permit test and completed all necessary JOL requirements, you must call the RMV Telephone Center to schedule your road test. All road tests must be scheduled by the phone center. You may NOT make a road test appointment in person. Vehicle Requirements for Class M Road Test For all road tests, your are required to supply a properly equipped, legally registered and insured motorcycle that has a valid inspection sticker. The motorcycle must be acceptable to the examiner. You must wear a DOT standard helmet. You must also wear eyeglasses, goggles or a protective face shield unless the motorcycle is equipped with a windscreen or windshield. Motorcycle "J" Restriction Customers will be able to obtain a motorcycle license with a "J" restriction to operate limited use vehicles and trikes (3-Wheeled vehicles). This will allow customers to take a Class M road test using a limited use vehicle or trike. The customer will then be limited to using a license to operate the type of vehicle that was used for the road test. Note: The "J" restrictions means "Other" and allows free form text that will be printed on the back of the license. Limited Use Vehicles or Trikes - A customer who take a road test on a limited use vehicle or a trike will receive a Class M license with a "J" restrictions with the following description: * Motorcycle - Limited use vehicle only * Motorcycle - Limited to 3-wheels only 06/11 6A:51http://www.massrmv.com/rmv/info/phone.htm
