Chapter 3-7 Privacy Potpourri Gramm-LeachBliley Act Privacy Potpourri GLBA protects non-public information. Non-public personal information includes personally identifiable financial information such as information provided on loan; credit card or insurance applications; bank account and policy number information; information from a consumer report; and information collected through an internet cookie. GLBA is regulated by the regulatory authority for each type of financial institution (i.e. MA DOI regulates agent compliance). Amendment 12/04/15- Eliminated a financial institution's obligation to comply with the annual privacy disclosure requirement as long as the financial institution satisfies two conditions: * The financial institution does not disclose non-public personal information of consumers to third parties, other than disclosure permitted by exempt Category; and SDIP Enabling Legislation * The financial institution has not change its policies and practices with regard to disclosing non-public personal information from the policies and practices there were disclosed in the most recent disclosure sent to consumers. M.G.L. Ch. 6C, s. 57A legislation which sets up the merit rating board and the merit rating plan. The law gives insurance agents and companies efficient (electronic, in this case) access to accidents, claims and violations of any owner or operator applying for insurance. The records may be used exclusively for motor vehicle insurance purposes and criminal enforcement purposes.
