BRAZIL'S FÓRMULA CEFAST
Four-time Brazilian champions persevere
and succeed, time and time again.
MY FORMULA SAE TEAM, FÓRMULA CEFAST, was founded by
women in 2005 and has had many memories since then. All the
members who have already passed, all the projects and studies
that have already been done and registered on our forum, all
the dedication of students passionate about motorsports
helped us win third place in the 2017 Brazilian competition and
guarantee a place in the Lincoln competition of 2018.
For this competition, we stayed at the University of Kansas.
The four drivers and the team captain arrived two weeks early
to prepare the car; however, due to transport problems, the
vehicle arrived late and the container it was in had flooded with
water. The five people who were there efficiently managed to
disassemble and assemble the car quickly and, the next day,
they were already testing it. The day before going to the
competition, we simulated the enduro at the university and our
car managed to complete it-but, in the end, we saw that we

had broken the car's wheel hub.
Members of the Jayhawk team suggested that we use the
college's CNC to machine another wheel hub, and some
members of that team spent the night with us programming
the machine and changing the measurements from
millimeters to inches. During the time we were there, this
team that welcomed us helped us at all times and difficulties,
teaching us a lesson: we are all in this competition for the
same goal and, helping another team, we can learn even
more. After all, there is no rivalry without opponents of the
same level. During these days, we were very tired, but excited
because it was our first international competition. We weren't
able to complete the endurance, but we feel proud of
everything we did and achieved in that time, including a
fourth place win in the design event and first place for
presentation.
