BENEFITS U SPRING TEXTBOOK STIPEND WINNER HIGHLIGHT Meet Hailey Petsch, Mechanical Engineering senior at Arizona State University. MY INTRODUCTION TO SAE INTERNATIONAL was my involvement with automotive technology in high school. In this course, I learned fundamentals of automotive trade work. The instructor also introduced us to the opportunities that SAE can provide to individuals who are passionate in automotive. After graduation, once I entered Arizona State University, I found another connection to SAE through Formula SAE. I came into leadership in this club and became vice president of chassis engineering. I have found many ways to engage and have very positive memories with my involvement so far. As a new SAE International scholarship recipient, I have started to utilize my membership by networking and creating my student profile. I really appreciate utilizing my access to the student community as well and seeking out opportunities through SAE. I believe that after graduation, I would love to help other young people get involved in the automotive community. After graduation, I have a job offer at Honda's Research and Development team in chassis research, and I plan to help recruit with their team and assist with any SAE events where Honda is involved. I believe mentoring the next generation of automotive workers is key to continuous growth and innovation. n Written by Hailey Petsch, SAE textbook stipend winner and Mechanical Engineering student at Arizona State University.
