Indianapolis 232 Apartments Receive HUD Grant for
Assisted Living Conversion

The AHEPA 232 Apartments of Indianapolis
received one of six grants from HUD for converting
units to the Assisted Living Conversion Program.
The grant is in the amount of $2.38 million. The
conversion program supports the transformation
of elderly housing units to accommodate the special needs of elderly wishing to remain in their apartments to
"age-in-place."
ANHC President Angelo Kostarides, also a member of
Chapter 232 and is its president of the Board,
stated that 24 of the 74 apartments will be converted to service enriched senior housing.
"This is a significant milestone to be added to
our ANHC housing development," Kostarides said.
The Apartments originally opened in 1985 in
the 202 HUD program. The property is managed by AMC,
which will oversee the services at the apartments scheduled
to be modified in 2015.

the holiday season, serving delicious
dinners, presenting gifts, gathering
clothing and blankets to give to the
less fortunate, and singing Christmas
carols.

Saint Louis, Mo., and all of the residents, have partnered with FOCUS,
an organization which helps the less
fortunate across the nation.
The donations are used in the
Saint Louis area to assist low-income
families in crisis, as well as the homeless.
The board collected donations
that totaled $7,000 and presented
the donation to FOCUS (St. Louis) at
the annual board-sponsored AHEPA
Christmas party.
The board decided that a food
drive as well as a blanket drive would
be attempted in support of this charity. As a result, the board discovered
that there are many talented individuals willing to assist with this effort.
They are knitting, crocheting and
quilting blankets to chase away the
