HEPA opened its Emergency Relief Fund to
help the victims of the magnitude 6.4 TurkeySyria
Earthquake, the deadliest one to strike
in present-day Turkey, February 6, 2023. The
confirmed death toll is 59,259.
" AHEPA stands with the people affected by
this devastating earthquake, during this overwhelming humanitarian
crisis, " Supreme President Jimmy Kokotas said.
In addition to calling for humanitarian aid, Supreme President
Jimmy Kokotas delegated Constantinople Chapter 601 of Istanbul
to coordinate the relief effort.
Chapter 601 Ahepans worked for weeks assembling clothes,
blankets, food, medicine, folding beds, and other much needed
aid for the thousands of people displaced, which were kept at
a storage-management point designated by the Ecumenical
Patriarchate. The result of their labor was delivering a truck load
of nine pallets, or six tons, of aid.
