Canadian AHEPA Leaders Meet
with Parliament Members
AHEPA Canada President Emmanuel Constas, of Toronto, led an AHEPA delegation
on a private meeting with leaders of Parliament at the Parliament of
Canada, March 22, 2023.
The delegation met with Official Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre,
AHEPA Shows Support
for Codel During Visit
When members of Congress, led by the House of
Representatives Armed Services Committee, visited
Crete and toured NSA Souda Bay in February, AHEPA
was there to demonstrate support of their visit.
Supreme President Jimmy Kokotas and Supreme
Secretary Savas Tsivicos met with members of the
congressional delegation (codel). U.S. Ambassador
to Greece George Tsunis hosted the groups. Kokotas
and Tsivicos appreciated the opportunity to meet
with the ambassador and several legislators,
including Congressional Hellenic Caucus Co-Chair
Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) and Caucus Vice Chair Nicole
Malliotakis (R-NY).
AHEPA also attended a dinner in support of
the delegation, who joined House Armed Services
Committee Chairman Mike Rodgers (R-AL), for a
tour and briefing at NSA Souda Bay.
As part of this impromptu visit, Kokotas and
Tsivicos also enjoyed fellowship with Ahepans of
Chapter HJ-6 in Chania, Crete, over dinner. They
also met with Supreme Governor Region 10 Yianni
Mitropoulos and Hellas District 25 Governor Kostas
Varsamis.

and Member of Parliament Anna Roberts.
" It was an honor to be present on Parliament Hill and to participate in
the meeting with leaders of Parliament, " Constas said. " We sincerely thank
Senator Housakos and Member of Parliament Roberts for arranging the meeting.
The discussions, issues affecting Canadians of Hellenic descent, were
productive and informative. "
District 23 Governor James Hutchison, District 23 Treasurer Nick
Pantieras, Toronto Lord Byron Chapter CJ-1 Vice President Ted Papadatos,
Ottawa Chapter CJ-5 President Bill Sioulas, and Toronto Brother Kirk Entwisle
accompanied Constas.
Grassroots Campaign to Grow
Hellenic Caucus Underway
The 118th Congress is well underway, and with it, an AHEPA family grassroots
campaign to help grow the Congressional Caucus on Hellenic Issues.
AHEPA congratulates the newly established
leadership of the bipartisan Congressional
Caucus on Hellenic Issues: U.S. Reps. Gus M.
Bilirakis (R-FL) and Chris Pappas (D-NH), who
are serving as co-chairs.
AHEPA also is excited to see the Caucus establish
vice chair positions and congratulate U.S.
Reps. Dina Titus (D-NV) and Nicole Malliotakis
(R-NY), who serve in that role.
" We look forward to working with the
Caucus's leadership, and the entire Caucus body,
to help it meet its goals and objectives for the 118th Congress, " Supreme
President Jimmy Kokotas said.
At the time of this issue's publication, caucus membership stands at 92
U.S. representatives.
