President Kokotas, Board Chairman Karacostas, Supreme
Secretary Tsivicos, and Board Vice Chairman Horiates attended
a Greek Independence Day dinner at the Blair House as a part of
the White House's commemoration. Ambassador Rufus Gilford,
chief of Protocol of the United States, welcomed the guests.
Community Festivities March On
Celebrations held in cities and local municipalities kicked off
March 19, 2023, in Tarpon Springs, Fla., with the city's annual
Greek Independence Day parade. The AHEPA Family of District
2, Florida, was well represented. More than 60 members strong
marched in the parade, taking up a whole city block.
" It is a joy to see celebrations in communities worldwide, "
Supreme President Kokotas said. " We commend event and
parade organizers for their dedication and success in orchestrating
these events. "
The AHEPA Family of District 10, Michigan, participated at
Greek Independence Day celebrations held in Detroit on May
7, 2023. They marched alongside Supreme Vice President Lou
Atsaves and National Sons of Pericles Advisor Nick Kavadas in
the city's 21st
annual parade and attended festivities to mark
the occasion. Michigan Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist, Deputy
Detroit Mayor Todd Bettison and Councilwoman at-large Mary
Waters, also marched. Ahepan Tony Manolias, His Eminence
Tarpon Springs, Florida
