offering them and your dealership the peace of mind
that the job is being done correctly. Do you really want
to leave that responsibility in the hands of others?
IMPORTANCE OF EXPERT
ADAS SYSTEM CALIBRATION
Aside from the importance of making sure that the glass
is installed properly, the need for the proper calibration
of the ADAS system after the installation is critical to ensuring
the continued safety of the vehicle. Merely plugging
the ADAS system back in after the windshield is replaced
and not seeing any warning lights come on is not
an assurance that the system is working properly. Today,
over 25% of windshield replacements require calibration
because the vehicle is equipped with an ADAS system.
That number is only going to continue to grow in the
coming years as more and more manufacturers include
these systems as standard equipment on new vehicles.
Many third party vendors don't have the equipment or
the expertise to be able to perform this critical step in
the replacement process.
PROPER AUTO GLASS SOFTWARE SERVES
MULTIPLE FUNCTIONS
But getting your technicians trained and certified to not
only replace the glass, but calibrate it is only one piece
of the puzzle. You need to have the right auto glass software
resources to be able to properly select the correct
part for your customers vehicle, be able to easily and
properly bill the customers insurance company electronically
for the work, and ideally transfer that information
to your DMS.
1. SELECT THE CORRECT PARTS - The process
starts with using the VIN to get the correct year,
make, and model of the vehicle and to then be able
to get the proper part information from the NAGS
(National Auto Glass Specifications) database. This
is something that your DMS isn't going to be able to
provide, so that is why you will want auto glass specific
software. Getting a list of parts for the vehicle,
however, may not be enough. Many vehicles nowadays
can have a long list of part numbers to choose
from because of all the different features offered.
