The completion of my doctoral degree gave me the confidence that I can accomplish what I set my mind to do and also be a good role model for my daughters. Being elected SAE Fellow in 2017 is one of my most fond memories. More recently, being recognized by Virginia Tech with a named professorship in 2019 was a humbling and rewarding event. On a personal level, my older daughter is currently pursuing a Ph.D. herself, and the younger one has just been 16 June 2021 accepted into law school-accomplishments any mother would be proud of. In what way is SAE helpful to you? SAE helped me grow as a professional and introduced me to aspects of the mobility industry I might not otherwise have had the chance to learn about. SAE offered the platform to present my research, as well as to introduce my students to other members. It also provided me with leadership opportunities appreciated by UPDATE
