AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS
Andreas T. Stamboulidis Parthenon Chapter
No. 495, Whitestone, N.Y.
The chapter held its 37th Annual Dinner Dance at Holy Cross
Greek Orthodox Church, Whitestone, May 5, 2018. Past Chapter
President and District 6 Governor Ted Stamas served as Master
of Ceremonies. Chapter President Dimitri Skartsiaris and Chapter
Secretary Peter Ragoussis presented the AHEPA Medal for Military
Service to Life Member and Korean War Veteran, Brother Nick
Manekas. Scholarship Committee Members Brothers Andonis Samartzis and Sam Karalis awarded a scholarship to Athina
Koutsothanasis, who is a graduating student from the Holy Cross Greek Church afternoon school.
Hudson Odysseus Chapter 545, Middletown, N.Y.
A momentous occasion occurred February 11, 2018, when the District 6 Lodge formally installed the chapter, bringing new beginning for fraternal Hellenism to the
vibrant community of Middletown and Hudson Valley. Supreme Governor Thomas
Dushas assisted at the ceremony, which was held at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox
Church, Middletown.
District 7
Yankee District 7, Connecticut and Rhode Island
Elpis Chapter 117, New Britain, Conn., hosted the Yankee District
7 convention, May 5, 2018. The convention, attended by more
than 40 AHEPA family members, featured a joint session where
Supreme Secretary Jimmy Kokotas, Supreme Governor Region 4
Jack Isaac, and DOP Grand Governor Zone 1 Georgette Boulegeris,
participated. The convention program included a panel discussion on the topic of "Strategic Planning" organized by Past Supreme Counselor Gregory Stamos. Supreme Secretary Kokotas,
DOP Past Grand President Anna-Helene Grossomanides and Chapter 98 President Prof. Evangelos Hadjimichael, were panelists. Brother James Zafiros, a guest from District 6, moderated. A banquet awards luncheon was held where outgoing District
Governor Gregory Simones passed the baton to incoming District Governor John Melonopoulos.
Nathan Hale Chapter 58, Hartford, Conn.
District 7 Governor John Melonopoulos and Brother Jerry Pangakis presented Brother
Steve Costas with his 50-year service pin and Life Membership Scroll, at Omar Coffee
Company of Newington, Conn., May 17, 2018. Brother Costas organized the "Omar
Golf Tournament" for many years in coordination with the AHEPA NE Regional Golf
Tournament. Also, he has contributed to countless social and athletic programs for the
Order. The late Brother John Costas, a charter member of Chapter 58, founded Omar
Coffee Company, in 1937.
