Stephanie Bennett (sbennett@sce.carleton.ca) is currently
working on her second postdoctoral fellowship at Dalhousie
University, Halifax, NS, Canada after recently completing a
Mitacs Accelerate industrial postdoctoral fellowship through
Carleton University, Ottawa, ON, Canada. She received her
B.Eng. degree in mechanical engineering from Dalhousie
University in 2010 and then received her M.A.Sc. degree in
biomedical engineering and her Ph.D. degree in computer and
systems engineering from Carleton University, in 2014 and
2019, respectively. Her academic focus is on the extraction of
biosignals from ambient sensors.
Madison Cohen-McFarlane (madison.mcfarlane@sce.carleton.ca)
is a Ph.D. degree candidate in biomedical engineering
in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering at
Carleton University, Ottawa, ON, Canada. She received her
B.Eng. degree in biomedical engineering from the University
of Guelph in 2015 and her M.A.Sc. from Carleton University
in 2017. Her current research includes remote monitoring
methods aimed at improving long-term care of older adults
at home, specifically the integration of multiple sensors to
monitor non-speech related human sounds. She is a graduate
student member of the IEEE IMS.
Bruce Wallace (wally@sce.carleton.ca) is Executive Director
of AGE-WELL Sensors and Analytics for Monitoring Mobility
and Memory National Innovation Hub, Adjunct Research
Professor with the Systems and Computer Engineering Department,
Carleton University, Ottawa, ON, Canada and an
Affiliated Researcher with the Bruyère Research Institute. He
has over 20 years of experience in the high technology sector.
His current research interests include the application of sensors,
signal processing, and big data analytics to cognition
measurement with a specific focus on the cognition issues associated
with aging and older adults. He is a Senior Member
of the IEEE.
Rafik Goubran is Vice-President (Research and International)
and Chancellor's Professor at Carleton University, Ottawa,
ON, Canada. He received his Ph.D. degree from Carleton University
in 1987. His research expertise is sensor applications,
real-time data analytics, and patient monitoring. Dr. Goubran
is a life fellow of the IEEE, a fellow of the Canadian Academy
of Engineering, a member of the Association of Professional
Engineers of Ontario, and an affiliate investigator with the
Bruyere Research Institute.
Frank Knoefel is a Physician at the Bruyère Memory Program,
Ottawa, ON, Canada and Researcher affiliated with
the Bruyère Research Institute and Carleton University.
His research expertise is the use of sensors and data analytics
in facilitating aging in place. Besides his M.D. degree,
he holds a bachelor of science and master's of public administration
degrees and a Fellowship and Diploma in
Care of the Elderly with the College of Family Physicians
of Canada.
