AHEPA Socrates Award Presented to Philanthropist Psaros
AHEPA proudly presented Michael Psaros, founder
and managing partner of KPS Capital Partners, LP,
with the AHEPA Socrates Award, Jan. 8, 2020, at
AHEPA Global Headquarters, Washington, D.C.
Supreme President George Horiates presented the
award accompanied by Board Chairman Nicholas
Karacostas, PSP; Past Supreme Presidents George
Loucas and Carl Hollister, Supreme Vice President
Jimmy Kokotas, Supreme Secretary Jim Stasios,
Supreme Treasurer Savas Tsivicos, and Supreme
Counselor Lou Atsaves.
Psaros was unable to attend the 97th Grand
Banquet in Chicago where AHEPA announced the
award but did provide a video acceptance speech.

Oxi Day Commemoration, Greek Genocide Symposium Held
New Jersey Secretary of State Tahesha Way welcomed members of the New Jersey Hellenic American Heritage Commission, the AHEPA
family and a large group of Greek Americans from around the tri-state area to the annual Oxi Day Symposium at the Historic Central
Terminal at Liberty State Park.
"As Secretary of State, I have the honor to host the New Jersey Hellenic American Heritage Commission as part of the Department
of State," she said. "This Commission has so much to teach us all about the ancient and recent history of the Greek people, founders of
the concept of democracy."
In her welcoming remarks, Secretary of State Way announced
Governor Phil Murphy's re-establishment of the N.J. Hellenic
American Heritage Commission along with its newly appointed
commissioners. She also announced the Governor's Proclamation
declaring October 28 as Oxi Day and recognizing the Greek Genocide
of 1914 through 1923. Supreme President George Horiates and
Daughters of Penelope Grand Treasurer Georgette Boulegeris read
the Proclamation aloud.
The day's program included an Oxi Day lecture by Brother Asteris
Fanikos and a panel discussion on the Greek Genocide with panelists
Participants and attendees of the annual Oxi Day Symposium.
