approval of its first Aperture visual data management
solution initiated serial production for a major avionics
OEM. The approval clears the way for initial system
deliveries, to enhance safety and improve decisionmaking
for flight crews and mission specialists.
Aperture processes up to eight video inputs and
supports four video outputs with near-zero latency, at
the highest level of integrity in commercial aviation
(design assurance level A, or DAL A). Imagery from
an enhanced vision system camera and other sensors is
presented to the flight crew, enhancing their situational
awareness.
" The TSO authorization of Aperture is a critical step
in the development of an innovative solution that will
change how we use video in aircraft, " said Dror Yahav,
chief executive officer of Universal Avionics. " This
approval validates the technology and allows us to
continue to innovate solutions for the future. "
Aperture development already underway will include
additional video/sensor channels, low latency video
aggregation and manipulation, and generation of
symbology and synthetic imagery. According to the
company, " Further developments will enable pilots
to take advantage of real-time content analysis and
augmented reality, such as visual positioning, obstacle
detection, taxi guidance, and traffic awareness,
leveraging Universal's extensive competencies in
vision systems. "

" VIAVI Solutions is a manufacturer of test

our newly released,
and newest product
in our fuel-quantity
line of test sets,
the PSD90-3.
It's capable of
testing any AC
or DC capacitive
fuel, water, liquid
oxygen or engine oil
system, " Anderson
said. " If any shops
are testing fuel
and they're tired
of draining tanks
and filling tanks, you need to have one of these. The
PSD90 also is capable of the simulation of AC and DC
capacitance in order to test cockpit indicators, so it
works in both directions; you can test probes and you
can test the panel equipment as well. " Anderson told
attendees the PSD90-3 replaces all of the company's
legacy fuel-quantity test equipment.
" Our second new-product release is an update to
PSD90-3
our AVX-10K. You may recall the AVX-10K is the
combination of the IFR4000 and IFR6000, which were
previously manufactured by VIAVI, and still are, "
Anderson said. " Since we last met, we've released the
ILS, the VOR, comms and ELT software applications
and pushed all that software out. Current users of
the AVX-10K want to make sure you're on the latest
software version ... With this release, all of the
applications associated with the IFR4000 and 6000 are
now part of the AVX-10K test capabilities. "
