flight training fleet. "
Sporty's Academy offers
a structured, two-year FAAapproved
Part 141 flight program.
Through a partnership with
the University of Cincinnati,
students can choose to extend
their education by attending two
years at the university and earning
a bachelor's degree in business.
Sporty's Academy also offers
students the option of flexible,
customized Part 61 flight training.
Like most service centers,
Cincinnati Avionics is having
trouble hiring technicians.
Interestingly, its connection to
the flight school has helped.
Students interested in aviation
often end up working in avionics
and aviation maintenance as part
of the University of Cincinnati's
professional pilot program or
through a co-op offered by
Cincinnati State Technical and
Community College, essentially
feeding Cincinnati Avionics'
workforce development.
" We've had a lot of good luck
with homegrown mechanics
working for us, " Gallagher said.
" I have some who have been here
for 30 years. Another advantage
we have is Sporty's. We're one
of the biggest employers of high
school and college students in the
area. When we see bright kids who
are interested in aviation, we can
show them the trade and how it
applies to the industry. They can
get hands-on experience, which is
very important for anyone making
a decision about whether or not
this is what they want to do for the
rest of their life. "
Beyond Cincinnati Avionics'
hangar, the airport has grown
over the last 30 years. It's a fully

developed airpark with some 110
T-hangars and a modern FBO
facility.
" Currently, we're working
with the county on an airport
expansion, which would open up
new opportunities in the future, "
Gallagher said. " We're not able
to talk about those just yet. We're
excited about the plans. We look
forward to sharing them with
everyone. " q
