Chapter 1-6 Transaction Types Permitted Trade-In Information - Incomplete trade-in information will only be allowed if supporting documentation listing the year, make, serial/VIN number, and trade-in value is attached to the sales tax copy of the RMV-1. Acceptable supporting documents are a signed bill of sale on dealer letterhead or a dealer invoice with an authorized signature. Dealer Registration Number - If there is a discrepancy with the Dealer Registration number, the Clerk will check supporting documentation for the correct number or call the dealership. If the number on the RMV-1 is incorrect, the Clerk will write down the correct number on the RMV-1 and process the transaction accordingly. Unacceptable Errors/Missing Information - The RMV-1 will be rejected and returned if: * Authorized Dealer's Signature is missing or incorrect; * VIN number on RMV-1 doesn't match Certificate of Origin or title; or * Insurance certification is missing (if application is for registration). All supporting documents must be completed and signed by an authorized person. If any of the information listed above is missing, the documents must be returned to the dealer or agent so the information can be added or corrected. Out of State Dealers -Effective November 30, 2015, Out-of-State dealers are no longer required to be registered with the Department of Revenue (DOR). Therefore, the RMV is no longer required to contact DOR when an Application for Registration and Title (RMV-1 Form) indicates the seller is an Out-of-State dealer. 11/15 1:39
