Chapter 6-35 Motor Voter Information Motor Voter Information You can register to vote or update your voter registration information when you apply for, renew, or request a duplicate driver's license and have filled out the appropriate "Voter Registration" section of the form. Please note: Transactions conducted on the RMV website will not affect your voter registration. If you simply change your address and do not request a duplicate license or submit a renewal in an RMV branch office, your voter registration will not be changed. To register to vote in Massachusetts you must be: * a U.S. Citizen; and * a Massachusetts resident; and * at least 18 years old on or before the next election In order to vote in a future election you must be registered: * 20 days before all primaries and elections; and/or * 10 days before a special town meeting. Normally you should receive confirmation of your voter status within 2 to 3 weeks from the date you registered with the RMV. If you have not received confirmation please contact your local election office.
